The Project

This Edgemont Village home in North Vancouver is a classic example of the stucco and wood-soffit combination that defines many homes in the area — and one that requires a thoughtful, multi-product approach to get right. The stucco was faded and chalky, the soffits had lost their colour and protection, and the doors and frames needed refinishing to bring the whole exterior together.

We used three different Sherwin-Williams products, each selected for its specific surface and performance requirements. Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint on the stucco for its exceptional hide and weather resistance. WoodScapes Solid Stain on the soffits — a product specifically formulated for wood surfaces that provides solid colour coverage while penetrating the wood grain for long-term protection. And Duration Exterior on the doors and door frames for its premium durability and moisture resistance.

Edgemont Village is one of North Vancouver's most desirable neighbourhoods, and the homes here reflect that — the standard for exterior presentation is high. The completed project gave this home a refreshed, cohesive look that fits perfectly within the neighbourhood's character: clean, well-maintained, and built to last in North Vancouver's wet coastal climate.

Products Used

Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint Exterior ↗— Stucco

Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint provides exceptional hide and coverage on stucco surfaces, with outstanding weather resistance and colour retention. Its advanced formula resists mildew and algae growth — critical for North Vancouver's wet coastal climate. SuperPaint is our preferred product for stucco repaints in the Lower Mainland.

Sherwin-Williams WoodScapes Solid Stain ↗— Soffits

WoodScapes Solid Stain is specifically formulated for wood surfaces like soffits. Unlike paint, it penetrates the wood grain rather than forming a film on top — providing superior adhesion, flexibility, and long-term protection. The solid formula provides full colour coverage while maintaining the natural character of the wood.

Sherwin-Williams Duration Exterior ↗— Doors & Door Frames

Duration Exterior is Sherwin-Williams' premium exterior coating — chosen for doors and door frames where durability and moisture resistance are paramount. Its advanced formula resists cracking, peeling, and fading, making it ideal for the high-traffic, high-exposure surfaces of entry doors in North Vancouver's climate.

“The team was professional from start to finish. The stucco looks fresh and clean, the soffits are beautifully done, and the doors tie everything together. Exactly what we wanted for our Edgemont home.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Squamish's wet climate affect exterior paint?+
Squamish receives over 2,000mm of rainfall annually — one of the highest in BC. This means exterior paint must be applied to properly prepared, dry surfaces and must be a premium product with excellent moisture resistance. We use Sherwin-Williams Duration and SuperPaint lines specifically because of their advanced moisture protection. Prep work is non-negotiable in Squamish: any failing paint, gaps, or exposed wood will absorb water and cause the new coating to fail within a season.
What time of year is best to paint a home exterior in Squamish?+
Late spring through early fall (May through September) is the ideal window for exterior painting in Squamish. We need temperatures above 10°C and at least 48 hours of dry weather after application. July and August offer the most reliable conditions. We do not recommend exterior painting in November through March due to the high rainfall and temperature fluctuations that prevent proper curing.
How long will exterior paint last in the Sea-to-Sky corridor?+
With premium products and proper prep, exterior paint on a Squamish or Whistler home typically lasts 7–10 years. Homes with significant sun exposure on south-facing walls, or those with cedar siding that wasn't properly primed, may need attention at 6–8 years. Our 2-year workmanship warranty covers any adhesion or application failures within the first two years.
Do you work in Whistler, Pemberton, and Brackendale as well as Squamish?+
Yes — Colour Craft Painting's Sea-to-Sky franchise covers the entire corridor from Squamish through Brackendale, Garibaldi Highlands, Britannia Beach, Whistler, and Pemberton. We regularly work on homes throughout the Sea-to-Sky region and are familiar with the specific challenges each area presents.
How do you handle difficult access on multi-storey homes in Garibaldi Highlands?+
Many homes in Garibaldi Highlands and Brackendale are built on sloped terrain with challenging ladder placements. Our crew is trained and equipped for difficult access situations — we use 40-foot extension ladders, pump jacks, and where required, boom lifts. We assess every access challenge during the estimate and price accordingly so there are no surprises on the job.
